Unless you've done it, you wouldn't believe how much leg room you don't have when riding in the back of a cop car.
Especially in a military police car.
That's what we did for our 3rd day of Spring Break.
Eric is still gone at Scout Camp mind you.
Hey, i needed a ride.
But i think i made them a little uncomfortable with my crying. Those young men looked about as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs, and didn't dare say a word to the sniffling red eyed, puffy lipped lady in the backseat. When i cry, for some reason my lips get puffy.... I look like i just got lip injections.
Chase could be heard saying "woo hoo, woo hoo" over and over in the backseat while boucing up and down smiling, and Allie saying, "mom, why are you crying...where are we going...can we ride in a here a little longer?"
The fastest you can drive on base is about 15-25 miles an hour. I thought i could get away with a short drive on base without Chase's booster seat, just seat belting him in the backseat, but, i didn't. His booster seat was unavailable at the moment and i needed to go somewhere real quick and real close....you'd think I had just thrown a grenade into a crowd with the measures the MP's took. And my explanation was about as useful as a one legged man in a butt kickin contest.
I know what you're thinking...what a h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e mother! I also feed my kids green beans and broccoli, make them brush their teeth and bathe every night, and play outside in the sunshine everyday.
So, if you add a monetary fine, a slice of humble pie, and 25 dollars later, the cops gave me a ride home. Which took like 6.2 seconds. But at least I had a man open the door for me, twice :)
I say it's not Spring Break until you and your kids get to take a ride with bullet proof glass separating you from the people sitting in the front seat!!??!! Right?

That sucks - but it made me laugh at the same time! I probably would've done the same thing.
I bet it was the best part of Spring Break for Chase. Kind of like you took him on a field trip.
I love it! Xan would think he was in heaven he loves the police! Hopefully that does not get me into trouble later in life! I am so loving everything you write! Man how I miss having you around! Let me know when you do go to Montana because I would so so love to see you! Bummer that you had such a not so fun time your self though! Don't ya just love Spring Break Xan asks everyday why he can't go to school and how he never wants to take a break from school I told him I would be reminding him of this later in life! :)
Growing up in off base housing, one mile from Nellis AFB, if there was anything we learned (even as kids) was you can't get away with anything. It was terrifying to toilet paper a house. The neighborhood was so quiet, you could easily hear a car (the MP's) driving around. But if anyone else heard anything you would have some dad out on his porch yelling that he was calling the MP's if we didn't go home. The increased possibility of getting caught, compared to a civilian neighborhood, only added to the excitement for us.
oh Ber.... you poor thing :) but I had to laugh too...your blog is too funny.
