I love that we got this pic taken before she wanted all her hair cut off...well, not really all cut off, just to her shoulders, which i love and hate. I hate it because the new 'do makes her look grown up and older and everyone says so too, (where does all the time go?...my babies are growing up and I'm as powerless to stop it from happening as it is to stop a redneck from carrying a fishing pole into Sea World.
But on the other hand, I love it because now i don't have to make her cry everynight while trying to brush thru her hair after it gets washed. Yes, i know about conditioner....
How many times have we all had the conversation with our daughter's about how much worse WE had it when we were kids?
(the other day)
Me: Ya know Allie, you have it SO much easier than i did. When i was a kid, I had long hair too and my grandma would braid it so tight everyday before school, i turned Japanese.
Allie: Yeah right mom.
Me:Well...(as i shrug my shoulders and smile) i'm just sayin.

Do you know what it took to get this school pic taken??
An Army of photographers, me and lots of 'do-overs.' 3 in fact.
2 try's before lunch, and then me getting a phone call to come to school to see if I could help when they would try again during lunch.
What finally worked after all the stops were pulled was quite simple...I stood facing Chase with my back to the camera, yelled "Hey there Chase!!!" waited until he looked at me, then i ducked and yelled NOW, and they took the picture.
Sure the look on his face says "Ugh, what do you people want"?
But it's a dang cute 'ugh what do you people want' face.
After this pic was taken, there were hoops and hollers and high fives all around.
I'm sure most preschoolers don't much like getting their pic taken, but throw autism into the punch mix, and it's a whole 'nother story.
At that moment of gaining success in getting Chase to finally sit still (and not cry) long enough to get his picture taken, I then felt so successful that I bet I could have sold light switches to the Amish at that point.
Whew.
