Today the Chaser and I are hangin at home.
No one is allowed in.
Chase has a cough that sounds like he's been a smoker for 30 years.
I don't know how a lung didn't come up with his last coughing bout.
Ever since Chase was born, he's always gets bad coughs with a typical, run of the mill headcold.
Normally when you get a cold, it moves later on to the chest, but he doesn't waste time and it goes straight to his chest every time.
And it's always a "virus".
It's a challenge when you have a child with autism that gets sick.
They can't tell you what hurts, where it hurts, what the sickness feels like, ect. So we play the guessing game, but it's his usual "this time of year" bad laryngitis, viral, yuckiness that we treat with inhaler's and Tylenol. This year's hasn't gotten as bad as last years tho. A few days before Christmas last year, i went in to check on him after a nap, and his lips were blue. That sent him straight to the ER with a "his chest e-rays are clear, it's a virus, and here's an inhaler to keep him breathing".
Not much we can do but use the inhaler, take it easy and watch Little Einsteins...thank goodness he doesn't like The Fresh Beat Band.
But as i was sitting there watching the show with him, my mind started wandering to yesterday's post, about the people in our lives.
Do you ever think back to the past and remember things you've learned from people over the years?? Like for instance:
When i went to college i was 17 and immature. Hopefully more has changed besides the age, although some may beg to differ.
I had a friend who was very wise and taught me that judging for yourself is the best way to go, no matter what others tell you is the truth. When it came to gossiping, she wouldn't do it. She would say "well, i don't know if that's true, but people should be given the benefit of the doubt. She could always see the other side of it, and kept an open mind. I learned from her, at 17, that important lesson.
I had another friend in college who could always make a decision when there was one to be made, and then she ran with it. Oh how i admire that one. When it comes to making decisions, I usually hee-haw around it, then make it at the last minute. I wish i wasn't like that, but, by and large, that's the way i am. I am currently going thru this right now as we are deciding paint colors for the downstairs. At least Eric keeps changing his mind too. Maybe we'll wallpaper. Ohhh...how Taboo!
Then there were the smaller things I've learned, like, add a packet of ranch dressing to your taco soup to give it just that much more flavor.
Or when you make mac n cheese, add chopped onion, the dried kind you buy in the spice isle, and if they come with dried green onions in them, even better!
I also learned that oven french fries, you know the kind that are crinkly looking, are actually not that bad microwaved when in a hurry. When you're kids are hungry enough...well, ya know. Don't knock it till you try it.
When painting stripes on a wall, to avoid leakage under the tape, first paint the stripe the exact color next to it (then anything that leaks is leaking onto the same color.) Now the "seam" is sealed and you can paint the stripe any color you want. (Thanks HGTV...my fav channel :)

Here's an expo, a demonstration if you will, of Chase's fine photography skills...

Hi. I was trying to get to my blog and your blog was listed. I clicked on it out of curiosity. I enjoy looking at blogs. Anyway, My last name is also Hagfeldt and I also have a son name Chase! Funny thing is we call him Chaser sometimes also (not as much now). He is 10. I'll have to tell Chase there is another Chase Hagfeldt. He will get a kick out of that! Hope your Chase is feeling better soon!
Jennifer
Chase has some great photography skills.
Isn't the close up a picture of Chase's computer he got for Christmas. (I'm a regular reader you know!)
I'm kind of looking forward to the pictures Z will take when she sneaks my camera.
Andrea you're right! It is his computer! The mystery is solved! Thanks :)
I think I have the same piano as you guys! (Although it's hard to tell from the picture, but the bench and bottom of the piano look identical - except for all the dust on ours!)
I enjoy reading your blog. I love how you just roll with the punches.
