Words of Advice...

(We changed our minds after painting it black...)
Here's the advice...It's not a good idea to sand down your kitchen table, 4 times....in your kitchen.

All I've done today is clean white powdery dust off e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g in my dining room...including every inch of the walls.

We finally finished re-doing our kitchen table and chairs, and, well, for lack of a better term, it totally sucked dude.

It is not easy to re-fabric chairs and then cover the seats in thin plastic to protect the cute new fabric...especially when you have 6 chairs.
That fine dust got into places i didn't know existed even in my nightmares.

We have an electric sander which you can hook up to a shop vac. Great concept if you have a bag in the shopvac so all the dust doesn't shoot out the back. It turned out to be about as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle.
It's a good possibility Eric has "the black lung" after inhaling all that stuff four times over.

Since we're moving this summer, and by the way, we still don't know where or when exactly....oh how i love the "military way" of doing things ...I decided that I'm going to plan ahead and start early on getting ready to move, unlike when we were leaving Okinawa, and I was in such denial about leaving that I didn't do anything to get ready for the big move except cry, so when the Ninja movers showed up at our door, they were told to start wherever and pack everything, which they did, including the garbage...they don't mess around.

4 Okinawans could pack up a whole house with at least a family of 4 in no time at all. It was most impressive watching them move from room to room with sheer speed. I remember the head packer in charge coming up to me holding the lazy susan. He asked me what it was. This was the conversation that followed:

Him: What is this?
Me: That's a lazy susan.
Him: ...laughing and talking in Japanese to his co-worker he said..." razy suzan...and then he called someone else over and spoke some more Japanese and then said again.."razy susan..hahahah"....and then all 3 laughed for a good while. Then he said to me " Razy susan" and shook his head back and forth like it was the darndest thing he'd seen.

It was great.

*sigh* i miss those people. Best in the world.

Gosh that sounds like a lot of work and to not have it turn out the way you wanted just stinks! I will be taking your advice and never sand anything in the house! I haven't used it yet but I own some liquid sand paper that I have heard great things about!!

Oh you are so funny I think i have refinished my table twice and you are so lucky that you didn't paint it black. The black was fun but shows everything so I am going to repaint mine within the next month and refinish my chairs too! Love your fabric so super cute! Don't you just love the fruits of hard labor ha ha!
