We labored....on Labor Day!

One day, a couple of months back, i saw a dresser at Goodwill that I HAD to have for Allie's room. Her current dresser was gettin' the job done, but I wanted one for her that wasn't so tall. It threatened to fall on her once when she was opening the top drawer, so we nailed it to the wall until we could get her a shorter wider one.

So.....back to being in the Goodwill......A couple of months back,I had walked into the GW and lo and behold, the heavens were opened and I saw the light.
The perfect dresser for Allie's room.
I envisioned it being sanded and painted white with different knobs.

I always wanna kick myself for almost always forgetting to snap a picture of any thrift store item purchased for a make-over before we start "making it over" ....i didn't snap a pic of this dresser for Allie's room until we had already removed the hardware and spent hours stripping the layers and layers of polyurethane it had on it. (FYI: A belt sander is not made to take off layers of polyurethane. The stuff sticks to the sand paper which then defeats the purpose I tell ya! So the chemical stripper is the way to go. But beware: you will need lots of gloves because that stuff is strong!

Anyway, here's the best before and after pics i got.
And PS. I LOVE LOVE L-O-V-E how it turned out!

Before:
(This was taken after we had stripped the poly, and taken off the hardware to spray paint it and we added legs and 2 pieces of wood for decor.)

After:

I couldn't be happier with how it turned out! The 2 white knobs on the top drawers we found at Hobby Lobby for so cheap! They were perfect! A for Allie don't ya know!

(We spray painted the drawer pulls black, they were a brass color before. It was too expensive to replace all the hardware with different hardware, but painting it black made all the difference!)

This mirror I found at GW for 2.99. It was perfect! Mirror Mirror on the wall you know! It was plastic and a brass color. We spray painted it white and then spray painted a glitter gloss to it. Just imagine it all on a dark pink wall...coming soon....next paycheck of course! :)
