For Memorial Day weekend, we played, all weekend.
We hiked
We bbqd
Played Mexican train dominoes
Gained 3 pounds (I did, not Eric of course..darn tootin too good bbq'd pork ribs)
Did
no housework
or laundry
Visited the 'Mormon Fort' in downtown ghetto Las Vegas
Hiked the Mary Jane Falls hike
Fell down hard on toosh during hike and bruised said toosh (no 'pics to come later')
Enjoyed being with family and friends
And belted out the song "Proud to Be an American" to our kids while driving down the mountain after our hike. We almost had Allie in tears..
(The supplies I had on the hike)
(Eric had the 'breakfast' trail mix, so healthy!! mine HAD to have m&m's in it.)
(Chase enjoying the waterfall)
(Wonder why it's just Chase in this pic? Because he got to ride on the shoulders of his dad and g'pa the whole way up the mountain. Allie and I on the other hand, had to walk it. We showed up at the waterfall and hour later. I think I died a little that day, not to mention how sheepish I felt for thinking it was a hard hike when I saw 2 pregnant women at the top. "She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an "L" on her forehead."
Now we all have the Smashmouth song they played in the first Shrek movie stuck in our heads)
(Chase sitting with a random family who had brought Subway up the mountain to eat at the top. Smart smart people. )
(Allie and Eric 'exploring' and one of the "Subway" eatin kid's next to them)
(At the top about to make our way back down)
(The Chaser with his grandpa)*******Next comes the "then work" section of this post, now that we're done with Memorial Day "play first" Weekend...
(It started with 'hero' Eric fixing the a/c. When you live in a place that gets a gazillion degrees hot outside, as much as having an a/c that never turns off sounds like a good idea...it wouldn't be when the power bill came in the mail. Whew! Now it turns off and like a good little a/c should)
(The sweet 9 drawer dresser I got off Craig's List for 17 dollars and 50 cents. Came equipped with 2 spider egg sacs, lots of other spiders guarding their offspring, and crunchy leaves in the drawers.)
(And wawlah or however you spell that! After sanding and a few coats of shiny black paint, and don't forget an OCD type vacuuming avocation, it was good as new...better actually, since it was clearly a dresser from the 1970's...'nuff said)
(When you have a long blank wall in your bedroom, and you don't feel like hanging up a million things to take up the space on the wall, do you think "why not paint a tree?")
(I did)
(It went a lot faster when Eric came to help)
(Almost finished, minus one thing)
(The finished project, I'm in love!)
(Please ignore the hideous venetian blinds on the windows..they came with the house and soon they will meet their timely death! Same with the bedspread.
I love my tree!
More projects coming soon? You better believe it....really...believe it:)

I love your tree - it turned out so good! Aaron keeps trying to get me out hiking and I am running out of excuses not to.
Oh my heck, Amber! That tree looks amazing! I especially love the birds, I'm kind of obsessed with the whole bird thing that's so popular right now. I'm so glad to have such a creative new friend! I'm going to have to hit you up for decorating tips. :)
p.s. I want to come see your house sometime!
That is adorable! I love it!! I am a big fan of wall murals, but I never thought to do one in my bedroom. What a brilliant idea! Are the birds stickers, or painted on?
Kaycee, the birds are painted on. We just love how it all turned out! I love waking up to it every morning :)
Love the results with the dresser. But the tree! Now that is superb! The little birds added just the right whimsie to finish the project off! I love it!
