FAIL

How I failed as a mother this weekend:

*Chase streaking the neighborhood in his birthday suit. (on Sunday afternoon while the Elder's Quorum were at my front door to collect fast offerings)

*Dragging a very unwilling 7 yr old with me to Lowe's 541 times.

*Saying no to the 14 cats, 5 guinea pigs, 99 dollar chameleon, and 10 cent goldfish Allie wanted to adopt at Pet smart.

*Feeding my kids sausage McGriddles for breakfast and Popsicles for lunch on Saturday. (Panda Express for dinner, but that's totally healthy...MSG included)

*Promising Allie all day that we could go eat at our favorite Teppanyaki restaurant for dinner Saturday night, only to go in there and be flooded with Prom night hoodlums. Young ladies dressed in dresses that looked like they were made for a 4 year old and young men that didn't hold doors open for their dates and made the girl's pay the bill.....no, i'm not kidding. Obscene words flying out of one of the mouths, not out of anger but because he thought he was being funny, and the once lovely calm Teppanyaki restaurant allie and I had visited often for lunch, turned into what looked like a dark, loud, busy nightclub. Chase took one step in there and that was all he wrote. He was freaking out like he had just witnessed the murder of Elmo.
Before we went in, he was of this demeanor:

2 seconds after walking into the resteruant, he looked like this:

Allie on the other hand was not at all disturbed by anything in there and could not fathom why we had to leave, even though her brother was having 700 mid life crises right before her eyes. There must have been an invisible wall there between her and Chase which produced her inability to recognize what was happening to him.
An all day promise broken just like that, in the blink of an eye.

But the promise of Panda Express and U Swirl perked up the once grief stricken 7 yr old who didn't get her fill of Japanese steak.

A win!!
