Today, for the first time

Chase answered me. Well, with words. If I tell Chase it's time for a bath, he'll go to the bathroom, or if it's time to leave, he'll go to the door or even sometimes, when it's time for dinner, he'll go to the table on his own. But never can I remember a time when I've asked him a question, and he's answered with words. He's getting so much better with his speaking. He still uses sign language to get things he wants, instead of saying them. Any form of communication that a child with autism exhibits is hopeful.
Today, he pinched his fingers in the hall door, you know those kind of doors that slide shut and i LOVE that he'll come running to me and collapse on me and stay there hugging me for so long. It's about the only time he shows affection so willingly...so...it's sad when he hurts himself, but i secretly get excited when he does because then i know we get some cuddle time, not forced by me!
So he was very sad and upset, and crying so I said to him,, "You wanna watch a movie?" Not at all expecting an answer...
And the Chaser said "Ok".
Pure shock overtook me.
He's never answered me before.
Who knows when it'll happen again, but i LOVED that it happened today.

That's awesome! Hopefully, it will become common practice for him!
